The first place we went was the post office because I would like to get a pair of earplugs so that I could sleep better - no snoring noise anymore. Then we found that it was just opened - it was the first day of the new post office! There was a massive cake and some coffee to celebrate this event. We tired a piece of cake and it was delicious, so as the coffee, yummy!
Then we spent our day looking at the shops, galleries and museums. The artwork had its own Icelandic style and was kind of special. There were two beautiful glass pendents I saw the day before, and at last I bought them when I was in the same gallery in the third time. My sister also bought some Icelandic wool which was a very special type of wool. We also bought quite a few other things, not going to mention in here. However, I must tell you that I had bought 5 rolls of films - 3 rolls of 35mm 24 exposures Fuji Superior 200 and 2 rolls of 120 Fuij Pro NPH 160S. I didn't even want to know the price - almost 4 pounds for each Fuji Superior 200 and it was on sale! And almost 6 pounds for each 120 Fuij Pro NPH 160S! They offered a discount if I bought a pack of the 120 but they didn't even have enough rolls for a pack! Apart from these 2 types of films, they only had Fuji Velvia 100 in stock, and that was even more expensive! These are the most expensive films I have ever bought, not the most expensive films I have ever seen, though (You guys: What?!) If I lived in Iceland and continued to do film photography, I would definitely go bankrupt.
Later in the day we walked to the old part of Akureyri, hoping to visit the folk museum but we were a bit too late. We also tried to find the botanical garden but due to the horrible weather, which worsen every minute, we gave up after 15 minutes. We were completely wet and frozen when we were back to the hostel.
We met a guy from Taiwan. He had already been to Norway and showed us the ticket of Norway in a nutshell. We also met a guy from the States and a girl from Germany. She was traveling by car and she had been sleeping in the car most of the time throughout her journey. However, as the temperature had gone down a lot in the last couple of days, she just would like to sleep on a comfortable bed in warm for that night. Later we had met a nice couple from Denmark in the kitchen, we had quite a long chat and we had gained a lot of information of Copenhagen from them.
One thing I must praise Iceland to the skies - free (and hygiene) toilet is highly accessible to people. Don't laugh, it is absolutely not the case in Norway.
