When we arrived at Myvatn, it was going to rain. The guesthouse we stayed at was very near to the bus station and it was very comfortable. The owners were very kind. After leaving all our luggage in our room, we went into the tourist information to get recommendation for attractions and bird watching locations. Since all the birds were gone and the staff (I think he is American because of his English accent) didn't think that we were great fan of bird watching, he gave us all the details of all the attractions in Myvatn, which was really useful and informative.
I was depressed by the fact that most of the attractions were not reached by the bus. The staff told us that a few years ago the bus company did run buses to quite a few of those locations, but it was not making money, so they didn't do it anymore. I then decided to take a bike to get there, although it was raining lightly. I simply could not afford to waste a day in Myvatn. And inside the tourist information, we saw the Taiwanese guy again.
We headed back to the guesthouse to have our lunch, and to our very surprise, the owner offer to take us to look around Myvatn! :D
He first drove us to see Griotagja, the two cages with hot spring. We did climb down to the water, and the water was rather warm. Then we went to Hverir, it was AMAZING! Although the bad egg smell was very unpleasant, I do not mind staying at there for one more hour if I have the chance to visit there once more. We had also been to Viti which was very muddy when we walked around.
Later we walked on the trail in Hofdi. It was very green and very beautiful, with bushes and even trees! I loved that place.
Dimmuborgir was the last place we visited on that day. The rocks there were all of very special shape, what's more, the area was rather green! It was full of the pretty colour bushes.
I had used up all the films in Leirhnjukur. There was a souvenir shop in Dimmuborgir selling films but since we went to the shop after we had the walk in Dimmuborgir, I did not buy any as I would get the box of films on the day after.
When we back to the guesthouse, we met a group of four Taiwanese women traveling together on a car, and had a nice chat.
